“the most famous man you’ve never met”
James B. Riverton is a mystery and has been described by some as being "the most famous man you've never met". A reluctant author who spent his youth on a journey of personal discovery, hiding in plain sight. The author had the good fortune of meeting some of the most accomplished and famous people in the world: movie stars, musicians, comedians, hucksters, criminals, gamblers, bankers, special operations warriors, aviators, politicians - including US Presidents and Senators, heads of corporate America, defense contractors, and an armada of other professionals while roving through life.
The author was born in San Francisco, Calif. Raised in Texas, Europe and the Middle East while living on an oil tanker part- time, at the age of eight. He traveled from England and France, transporting crude oil from the Middle East to those countries, with his parents. Endless days and nights tramping along at five knots, back and forth. The author learned to swim in the Suez Canal while awaiting transit, traveled through the ruins of Europe and the Middle East observing the destruction from the Second World War first hand. He learned to communicate in different countries, sometimes with gestures and good cheer by sharing Hershey Bars with the local children to make friends.
He served in the US Navy during the 1960's, worked overseas construction, dealt cards in Las Vegas, tended bar in exclusive establishments, managed hospitality operations, and hustled his way through life, finally obtaining a BFA of Theatre Arts at age 28.
Mr. Riverton eventually married the love of his life and raised a family after entering the world of real estate development that took him from Texas to Washington DC and back. Along the way writing was always a hobby until the ultimate challenge of writing fictional novels lured him into the figment of his imagination. The author currently lives in Texas, spending quality time in the Hill Country and Houston with his wife, friends and family, and his German Shepherd, Yogi.
